Fort Collins hasn't taken any of its drinking water from the Poudre since rainfall put ash from the High Park Fire into the river, turning it black, said Lisa Voytko, of the Fort Collins utility department.
The utility hopes to start drawing a small percentage of its water from the river next month, The Fort Collins Coloradoan reported Wednesday (http://tinyurl.com/9dygwqo), and the city is aware of the brewery's concerns, Voytko said.
None of the water the brewery is using has been affected, New Belgium spokesman Bryan Simpson told The Associated Press on Thursday.
The quality of the brewery's beer depends on the quality of the water from Fort Collins' treatment plant, New Belgium official Jenn Vervier said this week to members of a group working to restore the burn area.
"The health of the watershed equals the quality of our beer," she said Tuesday.

"Just look at the map and see where Greece is located," Meister added, noting its proximity to the Middle East, now racked by civil war in Syria, and to still-fragile parts of the Balkans.
His comments echoed those of another prominent CDU politician, Armin Laschet, who told Reuters at the weekend that a Greek exit could trigger undesirable upheaval in southern Europe.
"(An exit) could lead to instability in a NATO member state. Russia is standing ready with billions to help Greece in such a scenario," Laschet said. "Much more is at stake here than just the question of whether Greece meets the criteria (of its bailout)."
Both Laschet and Meister stressed the importance of Greece, now in its fifth year of recession, implementing the fiscal and other reforms agreed under its bailout packages.
But their comments suggest that Berlin could be more flexible than many have assumed if Greece fails to deliver on all its promises.
During a visit to Berlin last Friday, Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras lashed out at the "cacophony" of German criticism of his country, saying it was hampering his efforts to privatize firms and lure investors to rebuild the economy.
Samaras wants Germany and other euro zone partners to give Greece more time to meet its commitments because of the depth of its recession, though Merkel has responded coolly to the request.
She has made clear that no decisions on the Greek program can be taken until a report from Greece's international lenders - the "troika" of European Commission, European Central Bank and International Monetary Fund - is finished in October.
Merkel has also urged lawmakers to tone down their criticism of Greece, but some do not appear to be paying attention.
Alexander Dobrindt, a leading member of her CDU's Bavarian sister party, said in an interview published on Sunday he expected Greece to leave the euro by 2013.
However, some in financial markets have rowed back a little on the risk of a 'Grexit'. In a Reuters poll earlier this month 45 of 64 economists expected Greece to remain in the currency bloc in the next 12 months, compared with 35 of 64 economists in a similar poll in May.

The Dell?s lead in each case was not overwhelming?1 minute 13 seconds in Handbrake (versus 1:14 for the S30), 6.87 in CineBench (versus 6.38), and 2:57 in Photoshop (versus 3:01)?but enough to show that raw processing is not necessarily the ThinkStation's greatest strength.
Lenovo does come out securely on the top in one area. Although we know that no one would ever deign to use a workstation as beefy as the S30 for gaming, its upper-end video card gives it enough oomph to occupy the top of the results chart for Futuremark 3DMark 11 and for our gaming tests at lower resolutions and detail settings. These numbers could be improved by swapping out the Quadro for a dedicated gaming card, but at the business tasks for which S30 was intended the original card is definitely the preferable way to go.
That Quadro 4000, by the way, is the best argument in favor of the Lenovo ThinkStation S30: It gives this system powerful capabilities that could serve you well in all manner of drafting and rendering scenarios. French Ligue 1 side Marseille on Friday said they had reached an agreement with English giants Chelsea to sell their Spanish defender Cesar Azpilicueta.
The French south coast club said on its website that the transfer was "officially concluded on Friday morning... and the Spaniard had signed a contract", while Chelsea said separately that the right-back had inked a two-year deal.
Chelsea boss Roberto Di Matteo said on the club's website: "Azpilicueta will give us cover at right-back. It gives us more options for the future.
"His signing gives us competition for positions. We'll see who will be first choice."
According to news reports, Azpilicueta's deal is worth eight million euros (?6.3 million, $10 million) but neither club disclosed the fee.
Azpilicueta was a June 2010 signing from Spanish club Osasuna but in November that year he ruptured anterior cruciate ligaments in his left knee during a match against Montpellier.
He returned to action at the start of last season and went on to play 30 matches in the French top flight, as well as eight matches in the Champions League.
In the close season, he was a member of Spain's Olympic football squad.

It's an app version of SeatGuru.com, which gives you the 411 on airplane seats for both domestic and international routes. There's also an iOS SeatGuru app, which has been out a bit longer (current version is 1.1).
As a website and app, SeatGuru's goal is to help you pick the best airplane seats based on such criteria as Wi-Fi, power port, and personal TV availability; the ability (or lack thereof) to recline; and, you guessed it, seat pitch (listed on the seat charts' 'Info' tab).
TripAdvisor is now the official developer of the SeatGuru apps, which means the apps also let you shop for flights and receive flight status alerts.
If you?ve got only one computer screen and are a frequent flyer, I have two pieces of advice. First, get a second screen. You won?t believe how much time you're wasting doing all your work on one monitor.
Second, download SeatGuru to your Android or iPhone. As you shop on your computer for flights, have SeatGuru ready on your handheld to minimize tabbing back and forth between websites on your computer. It makes booking a flight?and perhaps the flight itself?a bit less painful.

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Rodney King, whose 1991 videotaped beating made him a symbol of police brutality and racial tension in Los Angeles, was in a drug- and alcohol-induced "delirium" when he accidentally drowned in his swimming pool, coroners ruled on Thursday.
The final autopsy report was issued by medical examiners in San Bernardino County two months after King, 47, was found submerged at the deep end of a swimming pool at his home in Rialto, 50 miles east of Los Angeles.
The county coroner ruled the death an accidental drowning and listed "alcohol and multiple drug toxicity" as contributing causes, saying that traces of cocaine, PCP and marijuana were found in King's body.
Rialto police Captain Randy De Anda told Reuters the case is closed.
"Our investigation is now concluded," De Anda said. "The conclusions that our investigation revealed have been reinforced by the autopsy and toxicology report."
The 19-page document, prepared by county medical examiner Dr. Frank Sheridan, ruled out suicide or foul play.
King "was in a state of drug- and alcohol-induced delirium at the time of the terminal event, and either fell or jumped into a swimming pool," the coroners wrote.
King had been drinking and smoking marijuana with a friend throughout the previous day and into the night before his death on June 17, according to the report.
The effects of the drugs and alcohol, combined with an enlargement of his heart's main pumping chamber, probably caused an irregular heartbeat, "and the subject, thus incapacitated, was unable to save himself and drowned," the coroners concluded.
His death came two months after the 20th anniversary of Los Angeles riots triggered by the acquittal of four white police officers prosecuted for beating King, who was black, in a confrontation a year earlier that was caught on videotape and widely replayed.
During the riots, which left over 50 people dead and caused more than $1 billion in property damage, King famously appealed for calm in a televised appearance in which he asked: "Can we all get along?"
The case helped bring attention to the issue of racial profiling by law enforcement and was a catalyst for far-reaching reforms in the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
'BABY, COME HELP ME'
The autopsy report revealed new details about the frantic moments just before and after King ended up in the water.
Police were called to his home by his fianc?e, Cynthia Kelly, who told authorities she was awakened before dawn by an incoherent King, standing in the backyard patio, pounding on a sliding glass door and shouting, "Baby, come help me."
She saw him fall backwards into a planter, and when she went to get her phone to call police, she heard a splash. She rushed outside to find King "face down at the bottom of the deep end of the pool," the report said.
Unable to go to his aid because she was a poor swimmer, Kelly used a pitchfork and a garden hoe to jab at him in a failed attempt to rouse King.
Police retrieved his lifeless body from the water, and efforts to resuscitate him were futile.
King, who long struggled with drug and alcohol abuse, financial difficulties and legal problems, had this year published a memoir entitled: "The Riot Within: My Journey from Rebellion to Redemption."
King's March 1991 beating occurred after he was pulled over for speeding by Los Angeles police, who had pursued him for several miles before he stopped and got out of his car.
Grainy video footage of King being kicked and struck repeatedly with batons by LAPD officers while he lay on the ground provoked a national uproar and charges of racially motivated police brutality.
Two of the four white officers acquitted of state charges by a jury the following year were later convicted of federal charges and sentenced to 30-month prison terms. A civil jury later awarded King $3.8 million in damages.
