Gas prices went up an average of two cents this week in New Mexico.
The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel in New Mexico went up two cents this week to $3.49, according to the AAA New Mexico Weekend Gas Watch.
Among the major metro areas in the state, drivers in Santa Fe are paying the most at $3.47, while motorists in Las Cruces are paying the least at $3.34. The national average is $3.72.
New Mexicans are now spending about $49 dollars to fill up a typical 14-gallon-sized fuel tank.
?The price increases are on the minds of motorists across the United States, but the rising national average has slowed over the last week,? AAA Texas/New Mexico Representative Doug Shupe said. ?Analysts say given current conditions, prices at the pump will decline following Labor Day as the busy summer driving season draws to a close and the switch over from summer to winter blend gasoline begins to take place.?
