ProInspire appoints Gene Kunde as Bay Area Executive Director
Gene Kunde will lead ProInspire?s launch and expansion in the San Francisco Bay Area
Washington, DC?ProInspire, a nonprofit organization that develops the next generation of nonprofit leaders, announced today that it has selected Gene Kunde as Executive Director of the Bay Area. ProInspire recruits outstanding professionals with 2-5 years of business experience who want to use their skills to make a difference in the world. ProInspire is expanding the highly competitive ProInspire Fellowship to the Bay Area this Fall. Gene Kunde will lead ProInspire?s work in the Bay Area and help position the organization for scale.
?We are thrilled that Gene is bringing his leadership experience in both the business and nonprofit worlds to ProInspire,? said Monisha Kapila, Founder and CEO of ProInspire. ?We know his passion and track record for developing leaders will help ProInspire grow our work to build the next generation of nonprofit leaders.?
Gene began his business career as a trainee at the Ford Motor Company and held management positions at the TORO Company before founding a successful distribution company of technology products. Later he joined Epson America where he became General Manager and COO. More recently he was CEO and President of Birkenstock USA. In 2011 Gene transitioned into the nonprofit sector as COO of Strive for College, a nonprofit organization that is dedicated to helping underserved high school students find, enroll, and pay for their education at the best-fit 4 year college. He has also been teaching at the graduate level at the University of California - Berkeley.
Gene has a BS degree from the University of Wisconsin, an MBA from the University of Minnesota, and an Executive Leadership Certificate from the Peter Drucker & Masatoshi School of Business, Claremont Graduate School.

ProInspire is actively considering other nonprofit partners based in the San Francisco Bay Area to be part of the Fellowship program. Current partners include Evelyn & Walter Haas, Jr. Fund, San Francisco Child Abuse Prevention Center, Single Stop USA, and Year Up.
